If the condition shows
that the full sovereignty belongs to society, it will be a condition where
democracy is fully implemented. Indonesia is a democratic country, it shown by the election of president, member of legislative,
and even the leader for a small district involving their people to choose the
leader. However,
Professor Thorsten Polleit from Frankfurt School of Finance said that
democratic system has
already affected many things, for example like the voting system which will
make people justifies any means to reach their goals, etc. This problem is a part of the
democracy weakness which will decrease the true implementation of democracy in
Indonesia. As the young generation, should we ignore this?
Democratic system is good
to be implemented in a country which has many differences like Indonesia. Indonesia has 5 accrued
religions, 1.340 ethnic groups, and more differences. If Indonesia implements a
similarity system with
authoritative system, there will be many rebellions because there are many aspects of
life, aspects of thought,
which is different one and another and could not be unified to be one system. Those rebellions will destroy many aspects of life in
this country, and will create more war which will increase the rate of poverty
in Indonesia. The rebellion will also
affect the run of economy,
for instance like when the rebellion appeared in Indonesia (G30S PKI) at
1965, the rate of inflation turned to 600%, made the price increase rapidly,
and increased the rate of poverty in Indonesia. And not only that, but rebellion will also cause distraction. The distraction of
one country tend to make many countries plans to take over this country, and
later, the freedom is not implemented just like an independent country. We already felt this phenomenon in the
past, when Dutch country colonized Indonesia for 350 years, and we are as the
owner of this country be a slave for foreigners.
Because of democratic
system, people of Indonesia can criticize the regulation that the government made. We can see now in Myanmar. They use
a democratic system, but most of the implementation is more likely aims to authoritative system. It shown by the condition
where the people in this country is not brave enough to say everything what
they want, like do a protest to the military regime, or even say their empathy to
Rohingya faction. Compare to the people in Indonesia, we have a freedom to express our thought by
words, or even by mass
media.
The news about the
resurrection of PKI is horrendous now. This phenomenon is not as simple as it
sound. If people say something easily about communist, we need to take an
action in order to avoid the growth of this party. Indonesia is a country which
has many differences,
and the tolerance aspect is already implemented in our society. If communist
system implements in this country, not only about believes will be affected,
but also differences will be united to be one system of think, and human who
wants to disagree with this system will be in trouble, like what happen in
Indonesia at Soekarno regime, when PKI (Partai Komunis Indonesia) heartlessly
killed many people just because of small differences, for example
like the assassination of Masyumi Activist, Lebak Regent, Governoor Suryo, the
kidnapping of Otto Iskandardinata, etc.
After those of phenomenon, will you
ignore PKI? Will
you carelessly decrease the run of democracy? It is our responsibility as the young
generation who will run the system in
the future to take an
action in order to increase the implementation of democracy in this country,
and avoid the run of communist system. Young generation have a power to
affect the govenment regulation, if this problem can not be erase, do we dare
to show our face? Thank you J
What happen if Democracy Slack appears?
